Chiru Mondo Murage grew up in Pennsylvania and now lives in NYC! Chiru shared what she loves about living in NYC, her career goals, and challenges she faces daily.
What did you study in school and why?
Government/French/Arabic. I love learning languages and set out in school to be a diplomat, in service of changing the world. Figured out that there’s many more ways to do that, so ever since I’ve set about finding mine.
What is your job/career?
After amazing experiences at Ogilvy & Mather and VFILES, I’m currently freelancing while dedicating time towards finding my next step!! I’m really excited to find somewhere I can grow and build a career.
What is a challenge you faced or currently face and how are you overcoming it?
The Job Search is a beast of a thing to navigate. I’m making sure to organize my days to make sure there’s time for the search, my loved ones, and my hobbies! That way the search isn’t like a dark cloud over my head and is more integrated as part of a lifestyle that helps me upkeep the confidence I need to crush it.
What does it mean for you to be powerful?
For me, being powerful is knowing how to move through/experience weakness without letting it consume you.
Do you have a favorite product or item you love that makes you feel great?
I absolutely love the stuff I use to pamper myself: skincare, perfume, etc. There’s just something so awesome to me about finding the exact right products that I respond well to and sticking to a routine that will make me feel awesome on the outside even on the days when I feel shit on the inside.
What are your passions, hobbies, interests?
LOVE painting and playing piano (waiting for when I have a big enough NYC spot to haul up my beloved piano from home).
